Core idea of the monograph is the problem of personality, which the author, Valery N. Sukhanov, Ph.D., Senior Research Fellow of the Scientific and Educational Center "Probe Microscopy and Nanotechnology" (Moscow, Russia), is considering in the context of "pedagogy of common sense" opposing the  studies based on teacher (parent)self-searching philosophical foundations of personality formation. In this regard, he appeals to the philosophy of Spinoza, Fichte, Kant, Hegel, Ilyenkov. Historical and philosophical subjects help better understanding the problem of finding one's form. In light of solving the basic problem of philosophy - relation of thinking and being - the author leads the reader to the basic problem of pedagogy (psychology) – relation of single to universal. The concept of activity is comprehensively researched, emphasis is made on first discovery of the truth in the instruments of labor, and search for the start point of oneself in the process of ontogenesis as the point at which the freedom, creativity and subjectivity converge. Particular attention is paid to the correlation of logical beginning in Hegel’s 'Science of Logic' and separate entrance to student’s personality.

The book is written for the general reader, but, would catch the interest of teachers, parents, and those who at least once in their life called into question modern processes of upbringing and education.
